These are not exactly the games that I expected to make it past my saving throws against Steam sales, but the discounts were irresistable
I love when I take a survey and then they ask me to take a survey on the survey
So, if training AI on copyrighted works is deemed fair use, can I just start torrenting everything interesting as long as I swear I'm training a model and not enjoying any of it for fun? Or, what if I claim to be an AI model, myself?
I'm in a Zoom meeting and seeing everyone only as head & shoulders and I spaced out for a minute and imagined everyone as Max Headroom
@ramsey I guess the thing, though, is they're skipping over arguments about how they acquired copyrighted material in the first place (e.g. meta torrented a big wad of pirated books, others slurped down as much of YouTube as possible against terms of service)
A thing that makes me feel like a weirdo and a crank is that I seem very sensitive to scents & fragrances that most other folks don't. Not sure if it's allergies, exactly? I don't think it's hypochondria.
I swear I got sick from the atmosphere at the hotel I stayed in for a work trip, a few weeks ago. Like just everything there drenched in musky acrid miasma and my room windows didn't open for fresh air.
Felt increasingly asthmatic over the week and then picked up a not-tested-positive-for-COVID infection by the time I left. I've had this pattern repeat over and over, like the irritation ushers in the infection.
And now that I'm home and just kind of back to 90% health this week, I'm still trying to get the stink out of the clothes I'd packed. I feel recurrence of the breathing distress when I catch a whiff - which I'm not sure whether that's in my head or physical. I've had to wash all my CPAP equipment repeatedly to gradually erode the odor.
Things like this make me not really want to leave home, unless it's to go into the woods
Really, I just go back to wanting a Quarian personal environment suit to wear whenever I leave my own controlled habitat
Because, like, I don't want to be A Problem or a diva or be a fussy burden on anyone else. I would like to be able to just suck it up and be unaffected. But dang these stinky places to which I sometimes am compelled to go thanks to concerns of livelihood really wreck me
@molly0xfff I used a gif of the Crystalline Entity from TNG to express this on my blog, awhile back https://blog.lmorchard.com/2024/03/11/dance-for-the-bots/
@billseitz Yeah, we've washed all my clothes repeatedly with alternating vinegar and baking soda. And run diluted vinegar through my CPAP stuff a few times. Was tempted to try some isopropyl alcohol, but have read that can damage some materials in the hose & mask.
@randomgeek weirdly, I've been there
@ceejbot It's the pits, for sure
@acedtect I think I remember reading that there are about 10x people who lived & died than who are currently alive
