@Osmose yes
@Osmose Yeah, back when I used to go through annual cycles of doing couch-to-5K to build up to three 5Ks a week - until I inevitably got sick or otherwise fell off the wagon... it was always shit
@Osmose Like, I was glad in a certain sense I was doing them and felt better overall, but I never got into that whole runners' high thing
@Osmose good job, though, the body will last longer 🙃
Sweet merciful holy shit, this story. This isn't an AI story - this is a these researchers need to be tarred & feathered and deprived of further University of Zurich resources in perpetuity story.
Replace "AI" with any other technology - e.g. say, a medication in the water supply of a small town without consent - and these researchers should be firmly shuttled into other professions entirely, if not worse
I mean, don't get me wrong: I know non-university "researchers" are up to this shit all the time. But the University of Zurich should be dropping these folks into a live volcano if only to repair their own reputation
@nomad Yeah, the story makes it sound like "recommendations were made, but they're on their own" - but, like, someone approved their use of institutional resources? Does their IRB just accept "trust me bro"?
"Comcast president bemoans broadband customer losses"
Heh, and just this morning I had a robocall from Comcast Xfinity worded like a threat.
It informed me that I hadn't responded to 2 previous attempts to reach me, and that the 50% discount would be permanently and irreversibly removed from my billing account unless I reached out and returned the call.
Haven't been a Comcast customer in decades. This kind of call makes me want to ship them boxes of animal waste
Oh wait, no, I remember: I was a Comcast Business customer when we lived in Detroit, because it was the only way I could get gigabit internet. The service was unreliable and had abysmal support.
I'm paying less than half where I live now for CenturyLink and (knock on wood) the service has been solid.
I just made a sandwich and had the idea to use garlic toum instead of mayo. It was delicious but I'm trying to decide if it was also a mistake 🤔
Edit: I think my breath might be deforming the plastic on one of my monitors
I was a meeting where someone started talking about "vee-bay coding" at length.
I said "you mean vibe coding? like programming by vibes? like good vibrations ala the beach boys?"
They said, "wait, really? that's what it is? i thought it was some new technical term"
I mean, to be fair, we give technical things very silly names? And I remember when I was a computer nerd kid, at one point I talked to someone at length about "poo-sway-doh-registers" (i.e. psuedo-registers)
@himbovoorhees I mean, they had read a lot about it
