Just noticed a weird thing: I have a caddy server that reverse-proxies to some stuff I run. It looks like something is hitting my server with requests for domains that I've never owned or hosted. Maybe it's that my server's IP was recycled?

I love how often window and desktop management breaks for me in new & exciting ways in macOS, these days. What a magical operating system
Seems like a new quirk gets introduced every version or two. Lately, I have to unplug & replug the thunderbolt cable on my laptop just to get Mission Control to work again after waking from sleep.
And sometimes, when doing that, macOS just... loses some windows. Like, they're no longer anywhere to be found on any monitor or in mission control. Or sometimes they're in mission control but shoot off into the void when I click on one.
That thing when a library e-book comes up as available after months on my wish list, but I'm already 1/3 through another book that was on my list for months. And I don't think I can finish them both before the loans expire š±
(yes, I will probably resolve this with airplane mode, but that feels like cheating)
Hot take: Defederation is feature, not a bug. Not everyone needs to talk to everyone all the time.
@earth2marsh Yeah, but that's just a minimum delay. Usually puts it back in the queue for the next few months again

This kinda lines up with another quiet hot take I have: I'm not very fond of bridges between networks like ActivityPub, Bluesky, Nostr, etc. Maybe on a user-by-user utility basis. But, as a network-wide thing, there's too much context collapse.
Like, sure, from a tech lens they're just protocols carrying very similar data. But, from a user lens, they're communities and cultures, even if accidental and implicit.
