Spent awhile catching up on unread Slack today - and then, as I do whenever I spend awhile doing something, I felt like I needed to check Slack in case I'd missed anything

@benbrown "How do I get deterministic behaviors from YOU?"

Suddenly the roulette wheel that is my ADHD hyperfocus has swung around to point at "creative writing" and I want to finish the dozen or so semi-abandoned short stories I started over the past 5-6 years before it goes away :blobsweats:

I'm like, "I have work to do" but I'm also like "the celestial conjunction has arrived, fuck work"

I occasionally make reference to Bradbury's "All Summer in a Day" - particularly the short film adaptation I saw when I was a kid.

tl;dr/dw: There are kids on a planet where it rains all year, except it's summer just for part of one day. A kid gets bullied and locked in a closet and misses it - she won't see summer again for a whole year.

This is how my brain feels sometimes - except it's simultaneously the planet, the bullies, and the closet-locked kid.

@stoppableforce Yeah, my call log has looked like that for years now. I just don't let my phone ring for unknown callers any more, which can be mighty inconvenient

@kf oh snap

@glyph hnnnngh i am in this picture, but i try to push it down

My current homebrew RSS reader seems to have broken. This, of course, puts me in a mood to write another one. Ignoring, of course, the dozen or two I've written in previous years.

If I can manage to fend off the rewrite urge for just a lil while, I might look at reviving my last previous RSS reader.

That one was basically a feed poller that populated a SQLite database, paired with a static site generator that produced a bunch of HTML files every hour. I still kinda like the idea of that one

The problem with that previous reader is it used node.js and there's a part of me that wants to write something in golang (or maybe rust) as a standalone binary that might be less prone to bitrot.

@benbrown I'm meh about mine because it's 4-year-old node, but yours is probably nicer because it's not old node 😅

@SkipfordJ @george Speaking of Time Warp - have you seen that Cristina is on Mixcloud?
