A funny thing I noticed: even though I use VSCode for most of my dev work these days, I still pop into vim for a quick little edit here or there when I'm in the terminal in VSCode.
There's a magical street corner near our house where anything placed there tends to disappear within 12 hours.
We've reached a weird privileged place in life where, when we want to get rid of stuff like old Ikea furniture, we just put it there. And usually post about it on Reddit
This, rather than listing it for sale anywhere, because we're too cranky to deal with randos to recoup the cost. But also we don't want to just throw it away.
So, it's kind of an ill-tempered gift economy? Sort of?
Like, here, take this thing I don't want anymore that's in actually reasonably good shape and the price tag is don't bother me about it because I'm anxious but I want to know it's not going to waste. 😠
I wrote a lil bit of flash fiction about this conflicting angry and scared yet wanting to help feeling (it's weird and not entirely great)
