@davidcelis FWIW, I think 2009 was one of the last times I was remotely interested in Ruby on Rails and the surrounding community.
The "perform like a pr0n star" thing and resulting reaction just kind of convinced me to spend time tinkering with anything but. DHH seems at home there, as far as I can tell.
Not to say I haven't occasionally done Rails for a paycheck since then, but that's about all the fond regard I've got for it.

I guess once upon a time I emitted many more political shitposts on the internet. I try not to do that so much these days. But I did think that was funny at the time (and now)

It's kind of an un-fun lonely thing, but I guess a place I've managed to get to in my advanced career is that I'm not a fan or member of any tech tribe or community any more.
I'm not a perl monger or a rubyist or a rustacean or a gopher or a brainfucker (or whatever such folks prefer).
I like computer and computer accessories. I am often disappointed in what folks do with them
I do seem to remember there was a time when a younger me was enamored with Perl and was like "eww, Python". I was also enamored with Emacs and was like "eww, vim"
And then one day I was like, but what if python and vim. And they weren't so bad
And now I'm just like, I make computer do thing. Make computer do thing with whatever crowbar make thing do
Make computer do thing doesn't seem to lend itself to successful conferences though
