@dysmento Yeah, I just use syncthing between my devices for obsidian

I got this letter from the Scientologists. It tells me I'm doing something right

For context: beck in the 90s, i took a sidewalk personality test in Royal Oak, MI that was the gateway to me eventually spending $300 of my grocery bagger paycheck on scientology seminars. I also read Dianetics. I've had no contact with them since and they've reliably tracked and mailed me several times a week across 3 states for 30 years since.

I guess it's our neighborhood's turn to have the military helicopter parade today?

@aetataureate Yeah, it's pretty impressive. Also at least a couple glossy brochures a month and a dozen-page promo magazine every quarter, too!

@siege This is amazing

@socketwench My condolences for anything else that needed doing today, I lost at least 18 minutes to a soft cat this morning myself

Never heard of Fïx8:Sëd8 before this morning and now I'm fixated on this album. Sounds like a mix of Cyberaktif or more melodic bits of Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly. Maybe some later X Marks the Pedwalk.

Also the whole album is 8 tracks of about 8 minutes each. I'm a sucker for a good concept

Also, I heard the track on DJ Todd's Real Synthetic Audio, a net-radio show that's been going on for almost 27 (!!) years. These days, I get it in podcast form and it's what usually makes me bike extra fast on Monday morning

Today's social anxiety battle: There is a bookstore, near my house. Practically walking distance. They are hosting a book club tonight. They seem like nice people. I have read the book. It was a really good book. I don't have any other plans besides the couch. I should go.

@bitprophet heh, same same 🙃

@jalefkowit That's gonna be real expensive when I peel the screens off to stick them in different spots

@davidgerard Framework folks looking around, asking "why does this big tent smell so terrible?"

I almost hate to talk about it for fear of jinxing myself, but: I tend to handwrite 3 journal pages every week day. Takes me about an hour, and I've managed to reliably do it for almost 10 years now. I've accumulated a lot.

A month ago, I decided to trade that hour on Tuesday and Thursday for creative writing. I've never found a consistent slot in my day for it until now, but for some reason trading out the journal writing never occurred until now.

Since I started doing that, I managed to finish 3 half-abandoned short stories and then get 2000 words into a brand new one.

Crossing fingers I can keep this up, because it's something I've wanted to make work for a stupid long time.

I'm thinking about looking for writing groups and getting more folks to read my stuff, though I know what I'm doing right now is going to be terrible until I've managed to do it for awhile.

That said, I posted this one to my blog yesterday just to get it away from me. I think it's less than entirely terrible, but it took me over 10 years to finish:
