TMI - Nuclear Bone Scan

@tankgrrl You have NUCLEAR BONES now. What super powers did you get?

TMI - Nuclear Bone Scan

@tankgrrl That's bunk, you should at least have been granted the ability to induce cramps in others from across the room or something

There are dozens of tools for taking an RSS feed and posting toots from it. I didn't like most of them. So, I made yet another one.

This is now running on a cronjob, feeding my Linkding into my new @links@lmorchard.com account. Let's see how that works out!

Feel like I've been on a roll, lately, with tiny little golang CLI tools. I'm really digging the zero-setup, zero-dependencies, standalone binary thing for tiny tools on my various servers.

In the past, I might have gone with a node.js or a python thing. But I kinda got tired of installing all the things from the places and hoping the stuff didn't break after a few months of neglect.

@splitbrain I think this should work, unless Mastodon fetches it into crashing 😅

Miss Biscuits has discovered a basket of toys and has since embarked on an endeavor to collect them each on the upstairs hallway rug

@akamran We did play fetch for a little while, though most of these appeared in the hallway overnight 😅

@c0debabe It's been a bunch of months since I last played with it, but I really liked Tera for my fossilizer project. Felt a lot like Django templates that I was already familiar with

keats.github.io/tera/

@c0debabe Tera seems like a nice mix of strong-typed definition of variables going into the template with nice composable blocks for the templates themselves.

I'd also figured out how to embed the default template files into the Rust binary, with an option to switch to external files for customizing

Sweet dang. re: Omarchy & Framework - “Out of all the Linux distributions out there, this barely configured stack of poorly written Bash scripts on top of Arch is clearly the best choice for us to support!”

From: @links

Meh, still trying to figure out the best way to work with my new @links account - quote tweets seem not entirely it yet.

An irony about Omarchy - supposedly omakase (i.e. someone else's curation) applied to Arch - is that this is the concept that makes me really like an immutable distro like Bazzite: A bunch of chefs have put a bunch of thought into serving me an OS that does what I want and I don't have to worry about it. And as far as I can tell Bazzite is leaps and bounds more thoughtful. @links

Borderline pronographic

@rgegriff you need a towel, there, cowboy? whoo boy

@sundogplanets Oh dang, shop class was unironically one of my favorite things in high school.

@jbaty I think the bits that got me were how so much of it is just a bunch of bash scripts lashed together that break in bad & hard-to-recover ways - especially the "migrations". Maybe that's overblown, but it doesn't seem great

@hypostase @mwl @links yeah but sometimes the opinion is... not great

Catsby drools when he is hungry. It is lunch time and he is pacing

@hypostase @mwl @links Yeah, but the opinions here are expressed as potentially broken software with less-than-rigorous quality and over-the-top hype

The static site generator that builds my lmorchard.com home page broke. So, I fixed it but I also got rabbit holed into adding a Pocket Casts card to show podcasts I've been listening to. It's not perfect and I should have been doing something else, but such is ADHD

lmorchard.com/

A cruddy thing is that I used to work on a lot more open source software, so my GitHub card showed more stuff. These days, a lot of it is... not open. So, that card doesn't show nearly as much work these days

@arcadus Ah, yeah, that shouldn't be happening. Whole point of the "cards" layout there is to work better on mobile. :blobsweats: Let's see if I have a fix...

candy

@zigg My wife and I have been carefully rationing out exactly 10 of these per evening after dinner, this month, for fear of just mowing down the entire bag in one sitting
