@c0debabe there's a hotel now!
@BongoFury Good news! The forkiverse already has a bunch of mastodon-compatible apps
Got an email from some restaurant reservation site that was like "get dinner recommendations so you can dine like a local" - and I'm like, but doctor I am local
@tankgrrl Hammerspace... wait, isn't that like the term for the dimension from which Bugs Bunny summons hammers and anvils? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Hammerspace
Brain fart moment: i just searched "duck duck go" on duckduckgo, which is my search engine in firefox. And now i can't even remember why I did that or what I intended
(jokes on me though: i never leave the house, so these are useful recommendations)
This call is being recorded for mockery purposes
@aunger Ironically, joining a compatible fork already many years in progress - welcome to the federation! 🍍
@janl pepperidge farm remembers
@Tombersax Folks have sent you good links to explainers, but one way to understand the federated feed is like this: Forkiverse-ians *are* the algorithm.
As folks on Forkiverse follow other folks in the wider fediverse, incoming public posts from those followed get shared with everyone on Forkiverse via the federated feed. So, Forkiverse residents expand the overall incoming federation feed by discovering folks elsewhere.
@lordbowlich IIRC, this feature came up because there are a significant number of folks who have literally 100s - 1000s of tabs open and tab unloading dramatically improved their performance. I think Chrome & Safari do it too
I think you can see more details in Firefox with `about:unloads` and disable with preference browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory set to false.
@Johnbenwoo I think you'll find that the fediverse at large loves to shit on tech (big and small) from a great height
@BongoFury Welcome aboard! Personally, I like @IceCubesApp on iOS
It's sunny out, so I took a walk to the park. Realized it's been months, for various reasons.
Surprised that all the crows along the way - and at the park - still remembered me. That, or they pester anyone who looks like they might have peanuts in their bag. Luckily, I did have peanuts in my bag.
I just got a marketing email with subject like something like "Forget everything you know about [product name]" - except, well, I already forgot what [product name] did, so I'm way ahead of the game
