This sort of thing makes me think of non-cyberpunk scifi universes where various devices & appliances don't have brand names and just do the needful - e.g. Star Trek.
Like, a refrigeration unit in the Federation doesn't have business-strategy pressure to add non-refrigeration features. Tricorders just... tricord. Shuttlecraft infotainment systems don't offer subscriptions for heated seats. Communicator badges don't deliver notifications for value-add services.
