@twipped I’ve got some printable replacement lids that actually have good enough printed threads to accept the fittings https://www.printables.com/model/993806-replacement-cap-for-chefs-path-cereal-container-wi

@LovesTha Oh, those are cheap hygrometers / thermometers. Can get them in a few different shapes & sizes, tend to run on LR44 button batteries for over a year. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P3NRH95?
Finished reading The Case of the Toxic Spell Dump by Harry Turtledove, this morning.
That was kind of a fun alt-history, vaguely noir detective story in a world where occult magic had been mostly tamed as technology. Told from the perspective of a EPA bureaucrat tracking down the source of magical effects leaking from a waste dump - which, among other things, caused newborns nearby to be born without souls.
Kind of read like a pulp thing from the 50s, though I think it came out in 1993. But, it also read in parts like a thing from the 50s in the sense that there was a lot of America-glazing that would go over well with the MAGA crowd.
Not unhappy I read it, there were some clever bits and it was a bit of a romp. But, I might have written it differently (if I could get myself to write something of that consistent effort 😅 )
Some bits of it kind of resonated - like, all this fraught everyday contact with demons and Powers from the Other Side gave me a pervasive background of dread akin to how it felt growing up with a nuclear stalemate in the 80s.
And maybe a bit of the dread flavor from current not-entirely-to-be-trusted current day technology.
But, atop that was sort of the American happy denialism thing I grew up with where we say everything's pretty great and we're on the right track generally. I guess you have to keep the story light when it's a romp 🤷♂️
I think I'm overthinking the book a bit, because I've kind of wanted to write things like it, if I could ever get my brain to commit to it
@randomgeek Are you getting into politics or polyamory? A lot of calendars involved in either
@jalefkowit Someone should set up 1-900-CHATGPT or 976-CHATGPT like the old talk-to-santa lines
@jalefkowit --or, oh! oh! like Miss Cleo!
"Whew what a week."
"Captain, it's only Wednesday."
"What the fuck did you just say to me?"
A problem with instant ramen for lunch is that I both want more and to never have eaten what I just ate.
@aud I had a Java Ring, once. It gave me a rash. @benpocalypse@mastodon.social @jalefkowit
