@petrillic Oh, so like in the word ghoti?

@april @haaseg Hell, I have a compsci degree and barely remember Big-O or how to implement a psuedo-random number generator from scratch - both of which I was asked about, last time I interviewed

IIRC, when I was last asked how to implement a psuedo-random number generator in an interview, my answer was "you don't. don't do that. because then you're going to use it in hand-rolled cryptography and that's how you get all your apes stolen"

@ArcadeRave @Oregon_Pacifist I know this is a line from Videodrome, but this is how I get Meat Beat Manifesto stuck in my head

@soypunk I've also said similar things about doubly-linked lists and binary tree balancing, with similar mixed results 😅

Neither role seemed like it would call for much innovation in fundamental compsci algorithms, so the questions were just kind of frustrating

@levlaz A thing I didn't expect going into those novels were several good recipes for dinner??? @chrisod @pluralistic

@pluralistic Totally need a Martin Hench cookbook as ancillary merch 😅 @levlaz @chrisod

@benbrown @hiro my favorite line in “Float On” from Modest Mouse…

A fake Jamaican took every last dime with that scam
It was worth it just to learn some sleight of hand

"When you lock things up…you don’t sell as many of them"

Hahah no shit?
