New Samsung Galaxy phones, but they're not all that exciting... I'd like an upgrade to my iPhone 13 that a) isn't an iPhone, b) has no camera bump in back, and c) has no pinhole or notch or "island" interrupting the front screen for sensors.
Mainly I'm thinking it'll take a few more years for some changes in fashion before maybe I get most of what I want.
But, like, man do I miss thick phones with bezels that don't wobble when you set them down. :sadness:

This really does feel like a fuckin weird era in tech product development. Like, this new wave of AI stuff can honestly be said to be conditionally useful in careful, measured doses.
But the hype and shoehorning crams it into so many spaces where it's anything but. And the "users" are not the "customers" thanks to weird convolutions in how shit gets funded.

On one hand, this current wave of AI / ML / LLM stuff can do some interesting things and I feel enormous career pressure to understand it precisely. And I am, personally, getting utility out of it in daily work.
On the other hand, I'm constantly having to disable and decline it all over the place.
And I have to work constantly to squelch unactionable yet intense disgust & offense at some of the use cases I see popping up even where I work. Like constant elevator farts, nothing quite a singular hill to die on yet a corrosive miasma that just won't go away.
@bitofabother And I get a very strong counter-push-back like my commitment to Sparkle Motion is in doubt and I have to get more quietly tactical (i.e. "disagree but commit" as the corpos like to say)
@mDuo13 Yeah, it's just like a daily stream of stinks and lemon-salted paper cuts, none of which makes me want to abandon my paycheck but also none of which leaves me a particularly happy camper

@thegibson I think I've come to understand I'm a weirdo, but:
I'd be fine with embracing the impermanence of all things and moving over to a clean new fedi server if someday necessary. I've done it a few times over the years anyways. And GoToSocial has always seemed promising, if paired with a good frontend.

I am glad to hear the good DEI news about Costco, because I pretty much survive on their 10lb bags of oatmeal. It's all I've eaten for breakfast for years now
Like, it's gotten to the point where I looked into growing my own oatmeal and decided that was dumb because we can just stock our basement with more cheap Kirkland brand oatmeal than I can ever carry
It is chilly out. It was sunny for a bit. I meant to go for a walk, but I put it off. Now it's not sunny. I don't want to go out there now.
Instead, I'm taking a little stroll on a treadmill in my office, so there's exercise at least. But no fresh air or crow friends to feed peanuts
On the bright side, this cover of "There's a Light That Never Goes Out" came up on this steaming station and it's been my favorite version for many many years
