Someday, I'll make it to another Hardware Happy Hour in Portland. This one's easy walking distance from my house, but I am Entirely Unprepared to Socialize tonight 😅
@Osmose that's... cute?
If you got "accidentally fired" and at all had the means to go without a job for a little while, what on earth would entice you back to work for these assholes?

@cypnk Weirdly, I think I have also had this experience? 😅
@skinnylatte this is AMAZING, you otter be in comedy (unlike me, who just realized he stole your pun)
So, do we think Humane AI Pins will show up in bulk for cheap on eBay as fun little hardware platforms to tinker with? Or as expensive tchotchkes for collectors of tech folly?

The "Tiny Signals Implementation" in this JS article bent my brain for a few minutes until it finally sunk in and now I want to find excuses to use it
So I was cooking and Cosmo was all over the place “helping” until I couldn’t find him and he was suddenly suspiciously quiet… #cats
So I finally tried Dragonsweeper.
I went from “ugh i never got minesweeper, i hate it” to “omg i can see the matrix, one more game” in about an hour
I really need to stop using strava and just switch to a spreadsheet or obsidian or something
A thing I dislike in iOS: there’s so much navigation on the home screen.
I want to start from zero every time, tap on one of my carefully arranged folders and issue the command to launch an app from where I put it.
But no, i need to retrace my steps every time, back out of the last folder or search. That means every time I return to home, I just kind of bap away at the screen until all the things disappear and I can get to zero
Even with how much I dislike iOS and the Apple ecosystem in general, I will say this iPhone 13 is well built.
I don't treat it particularly nicely besides giving it a screen protector and a thicc case. It has been accidentally launched across a room before, thanks to a critical fumble. But, it's been trucking along solidly since 2021 and shows no signs of stopping.
I really want to go back to Android, but I want to wait out camera bumps and front camera screen punch-outs if I can. And with prices going up, I'm planning to hold out until this iPhone crumbles to dust in my hands if it takes that long
Although, if someone just handed me a Samsung S-whatever Ultra, I would punt this iPhone into the sun.
(okay, well no, i would keep it around because it's handy to have an iOS device for debugging)
Really, what's probably going to happen is phones are going to finally plateau in development (if they haven't already) and by the time I get a device refresh everyone will have fully moved on to smart glasses as the new hotness
@rckenned It's rather ancient at this point (2007), but I have always liked @leonardr 's "RESTful Web Services" published by O'Reilly.
(Just fetched my copy from the bookshelf and realized it has a del.icio.us bookmark in it 😅 )

What's the Mythical Man Month look like when you add 4 AI-generated virtual employees to the project? 😓
(yes this is a bait shitpost)
@rckenned hah yeah, I guess a picture would help disambiguate too 😅
Downloaded my Social Security Statement from the government because I fell for the panicking of some folks online about data loss. I haven't bothered to look into it before.
Turns out I can retire in The Year 2042 for "full" benefits. But, if I wait until The Year 2045, I can get an even better "delayed" benefit.
Man, I'm tired. I was hoping to be cavorting on the lunar surface well before then in fully automated luxury gay space communism - but at this point I'm not expecting to see any of that money or be practically allowed to retire at all.
Talk about burying the lede...
With these changes, Mitchell Baker ends her tenure as Chair and a member of MoFo and MoCo boards.

Oh no, i have discovered that Dragonsweeper works great on my phone in a browser
Well, gee whiz, no fucking shit? A lawyer has to refrain from using a computer to make shit up?
Morgan & Morgan—which bills itself as "America's largest injury law firm" that fights "for the people"—learned the hard way this month that even one lawyer blindly citing AI-hallucinated case law can risk sullying the reputation of an entire nationwide firm.
@davidaugust @EUCommission Why they changed it, I can't say
People just liked it better that way
