So I guess there was a huge update to and I need to reinstall. I hear you can make custom space ships that can also play music as they go by. I have an urge to make an ice cream truck

We had a power outage at 3am. I use CPAP, so that sucked. But my little basement assemblage of batteries and an inverter and really long extension cords paid off. Even managed to drag the cord up 2 flights of stairs to the bedroom without falling over

This rig has come in handy a few times before during daytime outages, to keep our fridge running and phones charged.

But this was my first late night, brain-dead deployment of the thing. Kept a fan running in our bedroom so we didn't entirely cook, along with CPAP and fridge.

It could be better, but it works? Lead acid batteries are cheaper but ludicrously heavy vs LiFePO4. Most of the parts, I managed to get an employer to expense during COVID, so I got that going for me

Someday we want something that hooks up to the solar panels that came with the house, since those are frustratingly useless in a power outage and only offset grid usage. Also would like a whole-house natural gas generator and/or an actual professionally installed giant battery

This is about as far as my "prepper" impulses go, expecting the power grid to get unstable. Well that, and considering hoarding beans since apparently RFK hates beans

@danmactough Yeah, 3 of these deep cycle lead acid batteries.

And I got this pretty robust charger that loads them back up in about 3 hours from entirely drained. But, I've yet to get them fully drained with a 12-18 hour power outage

@danmactough Oh yeah, and this inverter to actually produce AC power from the batteries.
