Huh, AFI appears to have put out a pretty solid Bauhaus album last week?

I think I really like AFI?

My confusion is that I've heard a bunch of stuff from them on the radio or on shuffle over the years - but maybe only just now connected it all together as the same band? They've had a bunch of different sounds but I liked them all?

And that's not even getting into Blaqk Audio, which I didn't realize was kind of an AFI offshoot too.

@mossyfoot I'd say serve her nothing but plain boiled chicken wherever she goes, but she'd enjoy that

Miss Biscuits has learned how to work at home

The only problem is, occasionally, I require the use of two hands. Miss Biscuits is thus displeased

@tim_lavoie Well, really the only reason she was relaxed this morning is she'd just gotten done with zoomies all over the house chasing Cosmo around 😅

Bad news: My DIY blog software just deleted all the files for my blog from S3

Good news: All those files are generated from scratch by the blog software when it works normally.

Bad news: I need to reupload my whole blog.

Good / bad news: Nothing was lost except my S3 bill (and personal time)

mental health?

Possibly a niche experience: Procrastinating making an intake appointment for a new therapist for so long that they're no longer at the practice when you finally make the attempt?

@cinebox Yeah, I've used S3 for static site hosting since probably the week after they launched it way back when. Works very well. These days, I slap a Cloudfront CDN in front of an S3 bucket for SSL and a domain name, though.

@springdiesel I ride my bike past there all the time to sneer at the imprisoned bikes

Posted a new short story: "Behemoth"

It's kind of sci-fi, kind of Young Adult. Been sitting on this one for absurdly long, finally finished it. So, I'm posting it before I reconsider

@kusuriya @cyberpunklibrarian Just to second this: I haven't tinkered in the Arduino IDE in a lil while. But, when last I did, there was support to basically port over whatever I had on an Arduino board to run on an ESP8266 and an ESP32. And from there I had the joys of wifi and whatnot that my lil Arduino board didn't have

@kusuriya @cyberpunklibrarian I guess the ESP32 doesn't have the same open source clout as an Arduino but a) the ESP32 is dirt cheap and b) maybe Arduino won't be open source either in a lil while 😅

@cyberpunklibrarian @kusuriya I'm probably out of date, but you *might* like the Teensy microcontroller boards too. I got a lot of use out of them as mechanical keyboard controllers

@kusuriya @cyberpunklibrarian Ah yeah, that's a lot of my crude tinkering these days - find an IoT device like a smart plug that has an ESP32 in it, reflash it with something flexible, "program" that with a YAML file in Home Assistant. The widget does what I want without me writing code

uspol

@maddiefuzz He's the kind of guy to pride himself on knowing that, but doesn't actually know what they do

@cyberpunklibrarian @kusuriya One strange fun fact: If you're using Chrome and have the right USB / Serial cable, many microcontrollers can be programmed right from a browser these days with no special software installed 😅

@courtney I've had those around! They're more like buzzy birds, but still kind of friendly? Maybe more friendly than the hummingbirds

@fzer0 I think I saw this episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation
