I swear, PG&E is trying to fry every device I own. We had 6 or 7 one-second quick power outages last night over the course of 90 minutes.

That was a record, but we've also been getting at least 1 one-second blip every night or two at around 5:30pm for the past couple months.

Have ordered Baby's First UPS in hopes that I can maybe keep network & server gear from getting blipped to death. GPU on my gaming PC glitched & froze up last night, hoping that's not on its way out.

I also had a handful of cheap Tasmota RGB smart bulbs from aliexpress around for fun.

They've been going for a few months, but half of them apparently had their firmware and settings wiped after the power blips last night? Like, they reverted to some version of Tasmota that thinks it's a z-wave bridge rather than a lightbulb?

@kf Whenever I've picked up a dog, it seems like no one likes it and everyone is confused - me and the dog included

@codinghorror An irony is I think most LLMs are trained up on Stack Overflow content, so your experience in this domain probably primes you to formulate the right question patterns 😅

Oh hey, the power outages exposed me to a new (to me) failure mode for Docker! Apparently, you can get some local KV database corruption and need to do some crude rocket surgery before restarting all the containers. Learning every day :cyber_heart_sparkle_purple:
