I've been tempted to shift off-site backups for our home NAS to AWS, but they seemed significantly more expensive. I might have to re-explore that and see if I was just "holding it wrong" - i.e. not using S3 Glacier classes or whatever

@elmiko Yeah, that's fine by me. A big chunk of the backup set is stuff like years-old photos and misc personal documents

And if I can't get this USB drive to mount on the Synology - but can get it to mount on another machine - maybe I'll just have the NAS push files to that machine :blobcatupsidedown:

I will say one thing though: having mostly reliable gigabit internet really seems to speed them backup bits into the cloud 🙏

@pmac Well, Backblaze is where I back up now, but the last few times I've tried to access my data there, they've been "under maintenance"

I should probably blog about this, but kopia has some neat features? I had it installed via docker compose and backing up to S3 in under 15 minutes. One of the backups finished in 3 hours. And now I can mount that remote backup snapshot as a drive via fuse on a different machine? Neato!

@Mossop Well, it is a web server UI and not a desktop app IIRC, so that *might* not be convenient
